Guzmania, a houseplant, needs bright, indirect light but does not tolerate direct sunlight, which can cause leaf burns. Watering is done into the leaf rosette with warm, soft water, avoiding overwatering and standing water to prevent root rot. During the active growth period daily watering is required; in winter — less often, 1–2 times a week. Regularly mist the leaves, especially in hot weather, but reduce the frequency of misting in winter.
